Not too long ago I had the opportunity to install a Simple Pump in Africa, more specifically in a small village in Guinea, West Africa.

I was there as a member of a missions team that was helping with community development. Before going on the trip I was asked to help find a replacement for some broken well pumps. Two of the four wells in the village needed to have water pumps in them as they were the places where the villagers get their drinking water.

Having no knowledge of well pumps, I wasn’t sure of what to look for so I started out by searching the Internet. All I had to go on was a picture of the current pump, which was broken, and the dimensions of the well. My first thought was to find a modern version of the old hand pump. I have used the old hand pumps and they work well and last for a long time.

However, I was hoping to find something that was a little more industrial. It didn’t take very long before I found Simple Pump. When I found Simple Pump I knew I found what I was looking for. Not only was it the type of pump that I needed, it was made out of stainless steel and aluminum. This suggested to me that it is well made.

I also liked that it is safe for drinking water and it is easy to install. Having never installed a water pump I was looking for something that was not going to take a rocket scientist to be able to understand the directions. The installation videos were very helpful. I was able to download them to iTunes and then put them on my iPhone. I took my iPhone with me and watched the video a few times before the install. This made the installation effortless. We were able to finish in less than an hour without any major problems. It was such a joy to see how well the pump worked!

After looking over the site, I had a couple questions, so I called Gary. He answered all my questions and offered to help in any way that he could.

The packaging for the pump was small and easy to transport. We didn’t have any problems getting it there.
